Another busy week concluded with the Hydro Cup played as a Multi Tee, Multi Gender Competition over Saturday and Sunday.

Winner of the Hydro Cup was Darran Morrison (11) on 63 highlighted by birdie 2’s at 14 and 16.

Best Scratch Score was a level par 69 by Alan Lockhart with birdies at 3, 12, 13 and 18 and a BIH than Craig McGann who had a birdie at 15 and an eagle 2 at 10.

The First Class winner was Alastair MacRae (7) on 66 and a BIH, thanks to birdies at 17 and 18, than Scott Penman (11) who also birdied 17 and 18 but had a double bogey at 12. Third spot went to Allan Higgins (5) on 67 finishing with a birdie at 18. With an eagle at 18 Callum Gordon (9) edged fourth place on 68 and BIH than Yan Stewart (7).

John Ward (13) won the Second Class on 64 including birdies at 5, 8 and 10. Runner up was Colin Thomson (14) on 65 and BIH, despite a triple bogey at 14, than Jason Balman (12) who birdied 10 and 16 but had triple bogeys at 11 and 12. Three players then returned 67 but fourth place went to James McCowan (16) with BIH, including a birdie at 15, than Graham Hally (12) who finished with a triple bogey at 18 but had BIH than Andrew Brown (16) who had double bogey at 12 and triple bogey at 15.

In the Third Class Sandy Hepburn (18) won with 64 including birdies at 12 and 15. Runner up, and seldom in the money, was William Gilchrist (35) on 65. Third place went to Norman Rodger (19) on 66 and BL6 than Jim Montgomery (25) who did birdie 7.

On Friday there was a full field for Community Day with the proceeds going to the Captain’s Charity, Rookie Rockstars.

With a format of the best 2 stableford points at each hole from the teams of 4 the winners were the Memory Café team of Geoffrey Seaman, Paul Anderson, Brent Gilogley and Simon Barnes with an impressive 97 points. Runners up were Gordon Electrical with Robert Gordon, Jim Monie, George Barrie and David Lie on 95 points. Third were a Ladies team, Mary’s Minions with Christina Hendry, Anne Thomson, Mary Buchanan and Rosemary Chalmers on 94 points. Three teams then returned 93 points but with BL6 fourth place went to Sheila’s Girls, Janice Stewart, Lesley Blair, Cecelia Kenny and Monica Cessford.

The speciality prizes went to:-
Nearest Pin at 3rd Craig McGann
Nearest Pin at 7th Hugh Clark
Ladies Nearest Pin at 14th Wendy Donaldson
Nearest Pin in 2 at 15th Steven Aitken
Longest Drive at 18th Erin Huskie

Thanks are due to all the businesses and people who donated prizes for a very successful raffle.

On Wednesday the Rae Haxton Trophy for the Vet’s Stableford was won by Alec Wilson (14) on 41 points.

The First Class was won by Geoffrey Seaman (18) on 40 points ahead of Paul Anderson (9) on 39 points. Third place then went to Ian Campbell (10) 38 points and BIH than David Howie (15).

Rog Jeffrey (41) struck gold for the first time in a long time winning the Second Class on 38 points and BIH than Norman Ainslie (22) who had BIH than David Inglis (24) who then had BL6 than Ian Candlish (22).

In the Yellow Tee Medal Harry Barton returned the best Scratch Score of 69 with birdies at 6, 7, 15 and 17.

Keith MacDonald (8) won the First Class on 64 with birdies at 5, 13, 15 and 17 and despite a triple bogey at 9. Runner up was Gregg Kennedy (7) on 65 and BIH, including birdies at 15 and 17, than Scott Farquharson (10) who birdied 18 but suffered from an ugly 7 at 16.

The Second Class was won by James Gaylor (12) on 65. Runner up was Craig Douglas (15) on 67 and BIH, including a birdie at 10, than Stephen Pilley (15) who had double bogeys at 10 and 12 but BIH than Scott Brough (14) who birdied 12 but then had triple bogey at 13 and double bogey at 15.

On Wednesday (21st) there will be a Yellow Medal competition.

Saturday will be Captain/Pro’s Day with a more fun format with teams of 4.
