Bob Watson (12) managed to hold his game together on Saturday to add a 69 to his first round 62 to record a rare success lifting the W C Jug on 131.
The best Scratch Score over the 2 rounds were two 71's by John Barr to record 142 and the Better Second Round.
In the First Class Dermott Campbell (5) had some consolation for missing out on the Trophy and the scratch by winning on 132, 65/67. Runner up was Mark Neville (7) on 138, 71/67 and a Better Second Round than Euan Douglas (3), 69/69.
Andy Thomson (12) won the Second Class on 135, 65/70 and Scott Muir (14) at last returned a decent round to finish second on 139, 72/67. Third place went to Bill McGahan (14) on 140, 70/70 and BSR.
With another success before he returns to Australia George Thomson (18) won the Third Class on 134, 63/71. Tom Crockett (18) was runner up on 137, 71/66, with George Reid (16) third on 139, 71/68.
The highlights of Saturday's second round were a Scratch Score of 1 over par 70 by David Shields helped somewhat by birdies at 16, 17 and 18.
Playing on Friday Peter McSorley (9) won the First Class on 65. With 3 players on 67 runner up was Mark Neville (7) with BIH ahead of Ian Matthewson (5) who in turn edged out Dermott Campbell (5) on BIH.
Tony Callaghan (12) returned by far his best ever score at Dunblane to win the Second Class on 62. Runner up was Keith Farthing (11) on 63 with David Howie (11) just managing third place with BL6 on 66 than Gordon Foster (13).
Tom Crockett (18) won the Third Class on 66 with Pat Kennedy (20) second on 68 and BIH than George Reid (16). Bob Reid (16) was fourth on 69.
Having been rained off on the original date Roy Erskine ran the 20th Community Day to be held at Dunblane on Wednesday. Another successful day was enjoyed by 48 teams of 4 with the best 3 scores counting. Winners of the Community Shield were Dunblane Rotary, Paul Anderson, Jim Gardner, Alan Wallace and Ronnie McIntyre, on 120 points. Best individual score of the day of 44 points was returned by Jill Montgomery, guesting for the greenkeepers team. Thanks are due to Roy for all his hard work arranging the day which raises funds for the Captains' charities.
61 Juniors, 56 boys and 5 girls, played in the Junior Open on Sunday.
Winner of the Nelson Trophy for the best scratch score was Ricky Alexander from Braehead on 73. Runner up was Andrew Grant (Dunblane) on 75BIH.
Michael Welsh (23) from Dunblane won the Keith Jackson Trophy for best handicap score on 64. Runner up was John Ballantyne (24) (Dullatur) on 65.
In the Under 18 Richard Johnson (12) from Glenbervie won on 67 with Andrew Birrell (13) (Dunblane) second on 69. Sean Gadsby (7) from Crieff was third on 70 and BIH than David Wallace (10) from Callander.
Two home boys led the way in the Under 15 with Scott Cocker (23) winning on 66 and Jack Matthewson (14) second on 67. Third place went to Greg Brown (14) from Clober 0n 68 and BIH than Andrew Johnson (22) from Glenbervie.
Next Saturday is the Observer Trophy Open Mixed Foursomes. Currently there is a full field.
Members attention is drawn to the Entry Sheet for the Dobie Trophy, the infamous husband and wife competition, to be played on Sunday 12th September.
