All that Ladies can enjoy at Dunblane New Golf Club

Dunblane New Golf Club boasts a vibrant and active Ladies Section which offers lots of different golfing opportunities, as well as a full programme of social activities throughout the year.
Tuesday is Medal Day, with draws taking place at various times during the day. These competitions are well supported, with 60-70 players regularly taking to the course. Can’t play on a Tuesday? No problem, Sunday (occasionally Saturday) is our alternative Medal Day. As well as medals, ladies at Dunblane can enter other club competitions, giving golfers at all levels the chance to play competitive golf.

Want a bit of variety and experience playing other courses? Well there are several ways that the ladies at Dunblane New Golf Club do this. We have a very popular annual reciprocal outing, which is an opportunity to get together socially, with a fun golf competition as well. In the last few years the outing has visited Ladybank, Edzell and Crail golf clubs.

Over the years ladies at Dunblane have, very successfully, taken part in League competitions in both bronze and silver divisions, playing against other clubs in the area. We continue to take part in these leagues and are always on the lookout for new team members. However, if you’d like to be a Dunblane team member, but don’t want the pressure of competition, we play a series of friendly matches during the season.

The Ladies Section is very keen to see the next generation of golfers come through. To encourage this we have a special competition were ladies partner a junior to play for the Monty Trophy. We are also very fortunate to have a dedicated group of members who help with coaching, and organising competitions for youngsters at the club.

As well as golf, ladies at Dunblane enjoy a variety of other social activities. Got green fingers? We have a group of volunteers who meet regularly to ensure the gardens around the clubhouse are in pristine condition. If you’re a keen reader, we’ve started a Book Club, which meets every six weeks to discuss what they’ve been reading. You can also buy/exchange books from a large selection in the locker room, money raised goes to charity. Or you can keep fit and supple by joining in with a group of our members who get together for regular yoga sessions.

At Dunblane things certainly don’t stop at the end of the main golfing season. During the winter many ladies play in a very popular, weekly 3-ball competition. Everyone who takes part is keen to secure the very unique trophy which is presented to the winners! As well as the 3-ball, there is also a mixed competition which takes place once a month during the winter months. Even when the weather’s not good enough for golf you can still get out and about during the winter, by joining our walking group.

Don’t feel like braving the elements? Well there are things happening inside. Informal lunches are organised monthly, these let our members get together over a meal, listen to a diverse range of invited speakers and raise money for charity. Last year alone these lunches raised in excess of £400 for the Captains charities. Or if you want a bit of indoor competition, we have a Bridge Club that gets together every week in the clubhouse.

Obviously golf is a huge part of what happens in the Ladies Section, but it certainly isn’t the whole picture.
