On Saturday Dermott Campbell held his form to add rounds of 71 and 78 to his first 2 rounds of 71/70 for a total of 290 to win the Martin Trophy, as Stroke Play Champion for 2010, by 6 shots. Runner up was the Junior Captain, Euan Douglas on 296 having returned the best two round total on Saturday with 73/72 to add to 79/72. Third place went to Norman Gater on 299, 75/74/75/75.
The Stroke Play Handicap Championship went to Cliff Gordon (9) on 281 with rounds of 73/66/68/74. Runner up was Cameron Buist (6) on 282 with 69/69/72/72 and a Better 4th round than Ronnie Parker (15) 66/67/73/76.
The best two handicap rounds on Saturday were returned by Philip McRae (11) with 70/71 for 141.
There was a separate Stableford competition for all other players and some excellent scores were returned.
The First Class went to Joe Patton (6) on 40 points and BIH than Alaster MacRae (5). In third place was Craig McGann (3) on 39 points and BL6 than Mike Balman (8) who had BIH than Russell Dunn(6).
James Forsyth (14) won the Second Class on 41 points and BIH than Peter Wilson (15) who played on Friday with Willie Turner (13) edging fourth on 39 points and BIH than Bob Watson (11).
In the Third Class Andrew Dunn (20) won on 41 points with Stuart Brown (21) second on 40 points. Third place saw success at last for Club Chairman Joe Holden (16) on 39 points with Maurice Campbell (18) just snatching fourth place on 38points thanks to a par at 18.
Highlight of the day however was a hole in one at the 7th by the first player out in the morning at 7 o'clock Joe Malley.
Next Saturday is the Monthly Medal with play also permitted on Friday.
The infamous Dobie Trophy, foursomes restricted to husband and wife, is next Sunday.
The qualifying round for the Northern Open was successfully completed on Monday with the best score on the day being 68. The succesful qulifiers now move on to the main competition at Meldum House later this year. |
