*Junior Development – ClubGolf Pathway *
At Dunblane New Golf Club we’re passionate about helping juniors get started on their golfing journey.
Getting started: Juniors can join our ClubGolf programme by paying the relevant fee (see our website for member and non-member rates).
Age & handicap: Children aged 9 and above, or those who already hold a local handicap, can take part straight away.
Under 9s welcome too: Younger children are encouraged to come along to our regular sessions, where they can try the 5/7-hole Blue Course and work towards gaining a local handicap. (Some restrictions may apply based on ability.)
Supervision: For safety, children under 9 must always be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. From age 9 upwards, our friendly DNGC volunteers are on hand to supervise and support.
We make sure every junior feels comfortable, safe, and excited to play — building confidence, skills, and a love of the game.

Of you are new to golf it can be a bit daunting – lots of rules, new people, and sometimes you might worry about doing the wrong thing. But don’t stress! At Dunblane New Golf Club, we want our juniors to feel relaxed, confident, and ready to enjoy the game.
Golf is all about respect – for the course, for the people you’re playing with, and for those playing around you. If you learn a few simple courtesies, you’ll fit right in and have a great time both on the course and afterwards in the clubhouse.
General Rules
All golfers should follow the official rules of golf, plus any local rules (special rules for our course).
Local rules are printed on your scorecard and sometimes updated on noticeboards.
During competitions, the pro shop will explain any extra rules before you tee off.
Course Etiquette – The Golden Rules for Juniors
Think of these as good habits that make golf fun for everyone:
⏱️ Keep up the pace
Always be ready when it’s your turn.
Don’t play until the group ahead is out of range.
🔎 Lost ball? Be fair
If your ball is hard to find, wave the group behind through after a quick look.
Don’t make others wait 5 minutes before you do this.
⛳ On the green
When you finish a hole, walk off the green quickly before writing down your score.
Don’t move, talk, or stand too close when someone is putting.
Always repair pitchmarks with a pitchmark repairer.
Place the flagstick down gently and put it back in the hole when you’re done.
🏌️ On the course
In bunkers, rake your footprints and smooth the sand before leaving.
If you take a divot (a chunk of turf), put it back and press it down.
Remember
Golf is more enjoyable when everyone respects the course and each other. Follow these tips and you’ll not only improve your game but also be the kind of golfer everyone loves to play with!
